What are the symptoms of FIP?
FIP may come in different forms: wet, dry and neurological.
A cat with FIP can have very general symptoms that can be traced back to many different diseases. The diagnosis is very difficult and only a series of tests allows the veterinarian to hypothesize the disease.
However, some symptoms may suggest that the cat has developed FIP and recognizing them promptly is essential to saving the cat.
Among the most common symptoms are:
Fever
Diarrhea
Lack of appetite
Cold
Worsening of the condition of the fur
Anorexia/weight loss
Uveitis/eye symptoms such as excessive tearing
Abdominal effusion
Neurological symptoms such as difficulty coordinating movements, difficulty standing, paralysis of the legs, difficulty moving
Anemia
If you suspect that your cat may have FIP, it is essential to act as soon as possible even if a certain diagnosis has not yet been made. Timing is key to saving your cat.
