What should my cat with FIP eat?
The cat is a carnivore by nature, this means that it must feed exclusively on meat and derivatives. His diet must be free of cereals and sugars.
The best commercial foods are firstly high-quality complete wet foods with a good percentage of fats and proteins, secondly grain-free kibble.
The diet can also be integrated with complementary food (not to be used as an exclusive diet) such as home-cooked meat/fish without adding salt/spices.
In normal health conditions the cat can optimally nourish itself with the BARF diet based on raw meat, pulpy bones and organs but it must only be administered by expert owners who can guarantee a low bacterial load and correct conservation.
Packaged foods from supermarkets or discount stores should be avoided as they are rich in appetizers, cereals and sugars.
