Does the FIP drug have side effects?

GS441524 has no major side effects except a burning sensation upon inoculation.

However, skin lesions or small bumps may appear in the injection area.

To prevent the appearance of these lesions as much as possible, it is vitally important to use a new needle for each injection and vary the daily injection point as much as possible.

You should also avoid using the same needle for the injection as you draw from the vial.

It is important that the needle is long enough, so as to penetrate the cat's skin sufficiently to avoid any leakage of medicine which could irritate the skin itself.

In case there are lesions and skin irritations, it is recommended to shave the affected area and treat it several times a day with an antiseptic.

It is possible to use a solution composed of two thirds of hydrogen peroxide and one third of water.

Subsequently, you can put a onesie on the cat that prevents it from scratching and further stressing the areas of the lesions.

However, if the lesions are particularly serious, it is advisable to contact the vet, who may decide to prescribe an antibiotic treatment.

Precisely due to the absence of serious side effects, we recommend starting therapy promptly even if you are not yet certain that the cat has FIP: GS injections do not harm a cat that does not have FIP, so it is best to try immediately with therapy even if there are only still suspicions.
